Symbian-Guru: Sony Ericsson Satio Review – Hardware & Design

  • Ammar_Dento · 2 months ago
Happy to see another major hardware company in the Symbian world...this will boost the Symbian foundation and community faster and better. hope SE will do it right this time.

about the device i think it will be one of the best sellers if its priced right. because all the PDA+SE die hards (a.k.a UIQ users previously) will buy this.

waiting for the software review...i wanna see if SE go with the normal S60 software for multimedia or they there own applications??

Thanks for the review! Is the screen really covered with glass? I didn't think resistive touch screens could work with glass....unless SE pulled a fast one and switched to capacitive, but I really doubt that. Thanks!

Hm, that's a good point. The screen is resistive, that I'm sure about as it works well with styluses and hard objects. So if the thing covering it isn't glass, it should be *extremely* good material plastic. It didn't scratch under any usage.

That's good to hear about the scratching, whether it's glass or not.

The backside of satio looks like prof digi cam,but still the front can't beat aesthetics of the N97.But I'm sure still you can hit and kill somebody with it;-)

the retail version of Satio comes with 8gb microSD and the battery is 1000mah according to The Satio Launch Blog

    Hi Rita,

Something that should be brought to readers attention is that, for the UK version at least, the Satio charging cable has a socket in it for the headphones/USB cable/AV cable. I don't know if this was true for your review unit and you just missed it (I didn't notice until now and have had it for nearly a week), but this means that your comment about not being able to listen to music and charge at the same time is redundant.

My unit was a prototype and it only came with a wall charger, no earphones, nothing. I do mention it in my unboxing post and also here though, that I'm reviewing a proto.

    Hi Rita,

Okay, I just thought I'd point out to other readers that it is possible to charge and listen at the same time. I'm aware that you were reviewing a prototype.

    Thanks!
