  • Viipottaja · 1 year ago
Remind me, how do I find out the product code again? I assume its just written under the battery - so mine would be 0563247EP16R.. hmm.. I guess I should wait and not upgrade.
  • Mike Macias · 1 year ago
Wow Ricky. Hope you can get your phone back. Keep us updated I'm not gonna be able to update till later tonight.
  • Aditya Singhvi · 1 year ago
Any clue as to when everybody gets it???? I mean without changing the country code.
  • ozman · 1 year ago
for pc 0560979 its unfortunately not released yet
  • Edward · 1 year ago
UHHH Really BAD luck if you bricked your N82, I wish you the best with it. Bricked phones suck!
  • Ammar · 1 year ago
    Sorry for that.
If its bricked then the Nokia service center can repair it whatever the problem is...or they sometimes cant???
  • Adam F · 1 year ago
:( Still not available for my phone... yet again nokia lags behind for NA... i wonder if the v3 firmware for my E70 will ever come out? :-)
  • Mr G · 1 year ago
Ricky, i got the white screen too, BEFORE the update had finished and i got the phone recovery screen 3 times.

It then wouldn't turn on but after removing the battery and sim it booted up and i then proceeded to finish the update.

So don't give up on it just yet.
  • hyperkind · 1 year ago
wow this just makes me nervous about updating my phone...
  • gareth · 1 year ago
i just updated to v 30.0.019 after changing my product code to 0558752 with no problems so maybe its just a hit and miss thing
  • Ashu · 1 year ago

    Dear Richy,

I have heard that after installing this firmware, system hacks are not working. Caps off is not running and we dont have access to system folders any more.... Can anybody confirm this....
I would rather wait to update my phone because i dont want to loose my hacks...

And best of luck for recovery of your phone...
  • gareth · 1 year ago
i have updated to the new firmware and all the hacks i did before updating are still working but i cant do any new ones because i cant get access to system folders, rompatchers disabling caps dont work but the disable camera sound patch is still working as are all the others
  • mucelago · 1 year ago
Hey man, can you help me . I need to turn off the camera sound so please send me a link to down load the "disable camera sound patch" as you say. THanks.

Mỵ N82 check the NSU and it say current version is 20.0.062. I'll be waiting for a few day.
  • Stephen · 1 year ago
Hey is it safe to update firmware ? cause im planning to update my N95 8Gb firmware within a day or two.... its so scary...
  • ozman · 1 year ago
    @mucelago

it seems you are a stalker ;-)

if you turns off the warning sound, the camera sound turns off too
  • Ratkat · 1 year ago
0558752 is NOT a Euro1 product code it is a UK CV (Country Variant) Code, as such if you use it you will use the ability to switch to silent using the # key.
  • Cheung Yuen Wong · 1 year ago
I guess I won't be updating my firmware as of yet.

Because it puts major restrictions on my device as I won't be able to access my system folders.
    1. I won't be able to save my N-gage save files
    2. If anything weird happens, unable to update a software e.g. Opera Mini, I won't be able to delete the file residues left on my phone.
    3. Some hacks are in fact useful such as changing names on inbuilt programs to something more appropriate. (Changing the name Lifeblog to Nokia Photos for instance).

Besides the update for the N95 which was released recently proved to show up with previous bugs.

At least I will wait until changelog and the pro's and con's on this firmware is posted.
  • mucelago · 1 year ago
Thanks ozman but i'm not a stalker :D.

I'm from VN and may be firmware for asia region can't be turn off the camera sound. Only UK & Euro code are available for that.

Thanks again. Sorry about my bad English :(

My N82 is going crazy after update my active stand by is not working at all I re installed firmware 30.0.019 for two times and still is doing the same I don't know what to do... how can I get back to the old one ???
  • leonard · 1 year ago
ratkat,I used it and I still can change between general and silent profile wtih #.
  • ozman · 1 year ago
could it be, that the camera settings will be saved after closing?
  • gareth · 1 year ago
no camera sound patch works with rompatcher, its the allin1.rmp file, just make a folder in your memory card called patches and put it in there. http://www.ipmart-forum.com/attachment.php?atta...

    it's comming to you soon
  • nick · 1 year ago
Ricky, how is the phone? get it working?
  • mucelago · 1 year ago
I'm found the solution to turn off the camera sound.

    - Backup file 101F8809.txt from z:\private\10202be9 and copy a new one for edit
    - Use a text editor and open the file copied, change the line 0x7 int 1 0 cap_rd=alwayspass cap_wr=alwaysfail to 0x7 int 0 0 cap_rd=alwayspass cap_wr=alwaysfail. Notice, You must save the file with code UTF-16.
    - Restart phone.

And after that, when you set the silent profile or turn off the warning tone, camera sound will be turn off.

    THanks.

But this solution only work with hacked phone :D ^:)^

    i have a problem...
when i download the software 30.0.019, the update is starting but after a while it stops and says: phone recovery / 1. remove the battery and charger. 2. insert battery and charger. 3. press the power button for a few seconds.
i did that but nothing, i still cannot update my n82
    WHAT SHOULD I DO?
  • mucelago · 1 year ago
I think you must fully charge the battery before Update.
  • ivi · 1 year ago
have you finished the installation of the firmware..becuase i interpted at the part that wants to make a backup of data and it was the same as u tell it doenst open only it power the screen without light..what i do after??

i put the cable and press the the power button and i opened the software updater, after that i wait for the softupdate to finish, and everything went alright..i have back my phone
  • Aditya Singhvi · 1 year ago
its wierd... now its only the Euro version which is getting the update love from Nokia... I guess the rest of us are going to be ignored by Nokia... or there is something wrong with the firmware update!
  • Bikmate · 1 year ago
I just bought mine today and updated it right now. At first the program told me to remove my battery , then put it in again and plug in the charger then to start the phone. i did it, and then it started updating it. and in 5 mins the phone was updated. during the process windows installed a few drivers and the screen of the phone was plain white. after it was compeleted the phone started by itself and i closed the program.the only difference i see is that theres a new button under the WLAN quicksearch in the stand by screen.

    good luck every1.
  • genXhipppie · 1 year ago
@ dusankv - Same thing happen to me, actually. I usually perform my updates on a pc w/ winXP, but this time around it was a no go :(. I repeatedly received the dreaded phone recovery status. So, after 3 or 4 attempts, I jumped over to a pc w/ vista, and all went well. Go figure, I haven't a clue. Anyways, try a different computer(s) and/or OS, and see what happens.

    Good luck. ;)
  • Draconian · 1 year ago
    The update sucks.
Nokia N82 is slower now. When you want to unlock your phone the screen flashes 3 times. Everything is slower.
They also added a new button "online share". What a crap.
  • mislovic · 1 year ago
i've done the update... phone crashed initially, but managed to recover it by removing the battery. i tried to upgrade it again, and voila!!! BRICKED the phone!!
i managed to recover the phone with the 4 finger reboot salute. all my data and operator settings was wiped out.
DO PROCEED WITH CAUTION, for those waiting the update. the only real benefit for me, is the faster web browsing with version v30. some said battery life is better, but i've yet to see that in my phone.
  • Marquee Man · 1 year ago
all works fine for me no difference apart from the share online
  • Aditya Singhvi · 1 year ago
Its kinda wierd... but the 'Switch' application is just not working on my phone after the update. I have written about the same on my blog. Have you or anyone you know faced this problem??
  • varun hegde · 1 year ago
plssssss help me........i tried to update my n82 with version 30.0.019 .....but in between the update , my net connection got disconnected, so i removed my usb cable.....then it showed a window to recover phone memory.....i followed the steps...but now i connot on the mobile......i can just see white light flashing in the keypads...what should i do....and whatz the problem??
  • Mike · 1 year ago
Hi guys! what do you mean by hacked phone?
and another question, what do you mean by the 4 finger reboot salute? wich buttons do you press?
I'll be upgrading my N82 right now, as i'm dying to unbrand it.

    thanks for the info.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
P.S.: is the product code 0558752 really a EURO1 FW or is it just a variant from UK?
Anyways, as long as it is unbranded, it can't be musch different.

    thanks
  • Mike · 1 year ago
Well, this is odd, i read all the comments everyone posted on this topic, about the phone asking to take off the batery and restart and all that during the upgrade process... but i just finished upgrading my N82 and not only it just turned off once during all the process, but also i havent't lost any data, contacts, messages, configurations, etc... all the apps i had installed are there as well... even my background pic is the same as it was previously to the upgrade... Though, i'm sure that i upgraded cause NSU downloaded the file and told not to turn off the phone during the process but it also tells me V 30.0.019 23-07-08 RM-313 Nokia N82(68.01) when I tap *#0000#.

    Anyone is familiar with this?

    thanks.

    Dear all,

I updated my phone software last week- say oct 2nd ... It's working fine .... you have to be very patient and ensure that your internet connectivity is good.
    Pls ensure:
    1. Your Nokia phone update software is installed correctly /without any problem (vista users careful – U need to do few things before the software is installed)
    2. Pls use a laptop/ ups backed modem before you try to upgrade.

In my installation - I even answered a phone call while plugged on to the com - when the update was getting downloaded

Mine is a N82 Black - My software version after upgrade reads is: V30.0.019
    23-07-08 rm313 nokia N82 (08.01)

The upgrade was easy since i didn’t have to install anything again..everything was there ..Just the way it was before the upgrade.

The search in the standby ...occupies 2 lines...with another line (last line) taken by share online application.

    Benefits:
Speaker’s performance has improved, music player is faster
    Phone is a fraction slower
    Java applications work better.
Many unknown bugs might have got fixed.

Hope this helps: If you need any help mail me at: srika81@gamil.com

PHONE RECOVERY! Now my phone doesn't start up at all! Tried to charge it but nothing!
  • Fabricio · 1 year ago
I have to alert you guys:
If you still don't hacked your n82, don't download the firmware v30.0.019, because this firmware is blocking new hack.
Unfortunately I downloaded the firmware v30.0.019 first, and try to hack with the secman, drakarius and others. They didn't work.
If somebody knows a new procedure to hack the n82 with a firmware v30.0.019 instaled, share the informations, please.
  • suvosmit · 1 year ago
here is a offer for all the programmers..the first one who hack the latest n82 firmware v30.0.019 will b able to get 1000$ from our company.so post ur working hack for n82 firmware and get rich.
  • Lee · 1 year ago
    Guys,

If you are having the problem with your update where it appears that your phone is not switching on and NSU is displaying phone recovery then you should do the following:

    *Remove the charger & battery;
    *Leave both out for 30 secs;
    *Put battery back in & power;
    *Press the power button on your phone, you will see the screen flash like power is going to it;
*Press the retry button in NSU and it should continue updating.

This happened to my N82 and thats what I did and the firmware installed fine.
  • Mark · 1 year ago
    Hi

All I was looking for was info about removing system folders from the root dir (I obviously have a lot to learn). But I looked at my version and it is V10.0.046. After hearing everything people have been saying, is it worth upgrading? My phone works fine and quick and I would rather leave it as it is rather than gain something I won't use or won't notice.

    Any suggestions?

    Mark
  • kalbidi · 1 year ago
Lee, it didn't help. After doing that, phone recovery screen comes up again.
  • frank · 1 year ago
Hi Guy im from india, searching for a better solution with out the firmware update, coz it screwed up Nokia 6270 volume, this time very skeptical for my N82, any other fixes/cracks for the camera sound off and the speaker volume to be increased..Thanks in advance.
  • fafanne · 1 year ago
Ok, for the time being, the n82 is unhackable. It's clear.

I have the n82 black v20. I was thinking upgrading to the v30 to change my product code to EURO-1 as my n82 comes from Hong Kong which doesn't have french language. I use English language for my language phone but used very often T9 french when texting. T9 saves times very much and render texting speedy.

If I hacked my v20, self-sign my applications with mobile signer (which means that the applications are signed), then upgrade to v30, Do a hard reset(erase all hacks) and install the signed application. Do you think the signed application on v20 will work on v30? Anyone tried this?

If that work I will sign all the applications which I need then move to v30.

Many might ask why I would want do a hard reset cuz my hack would be preserved through UDP...I think there will be some problems as I will be putting a different firmware on it which will be the euro-1 version. It might raise error which many get. Sometimes as well, I format my phone to make a clean install of all my applications when I see the phone getting slow, or cuz of some files leftup during unistallation or files being corrupted. Something like that.

If somebody tried this, please let me know...It's the only way for me to go through the v30 as there are some improvements from the v30.
    Thanks
  • niru · 1 year ago
I tried updating my n82 to v30.0.019. The NSU detected the phone, downloaded the new FW & all, and half way during the updating process it showed the error "Connection to phone lost." As instructed, i removed the battery & reinstalled it. Pressed the power button, but only the keypad & screen backlight turn on & stay that way.

So finally gave it to Nokia Care. Will hopefully get it back tomorrow...

  • PhoneMan · 1 year ago
I would like to warn you people that there are risk of bricking your phone if you change product code. This is because memorymappings between softwares to different product codes are different..
